I learned about this book when I watched the Disney family movie, "Those Callaways." Suspecting there was much more to the tale when I saw in the credits that the movie was based on a book (by writer Paul Annixter (real name Howard Allison Sturtzel, author, with his wife, of a vast body of work, largely about nature), I dredged up an original copy of "Swiftwater" through an interlibrary loan/5. swiftwater was the first novel i ever read,at age i searched for a copy to give to my 14 year old daughter,who is much more advanced in reading skills than i thouroughly enjoyed it,and knowing it's history with me just made it book is a great book 4/5(1). Every interesting place ought to have a book written about it that's as well done as "Up the Swiftwater: A Pictorial History of the Colorful Upper St. Joe River Country". the book's charm is that it documents reality, not just history.
